Vivalytic Sexually Transmitted Infections

Sexually Transmitted Infections are still the most common thread to healthcare. As of 2015, app. 1.1 bn people globally were infected with STIs other than HIV [1]. As most of the STIs produce none or only mild symptoms, they very often remain undiagnosed and untreated. Others show very similar or even overlapping symptoms, so co-infections might be overlooked.

STIs are predominantly transmitted by sexual activity and caused by more than 30 different bacteria, viruses and parasites. Most common infections like e.g. syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia or trichomoniasis are curable by antibiotic treatment, others like herpes, HIV or HPV are currently not curable. Early detection and treatment of an STI lowers the chance of spreading the disease and under certain conditions improves the clinical outcome for the patient.

The Vivalytic STI Panel uses a sophisticated panel approach for detection and discrimination of ten different viral and bacterial pathogens. It enables healthcare professionals to timely initiate proper treatment regimens and thus improve patients’ lives.
